First and last

A book/series you’ve read and enjoyed, but can’t bring yourself to read again

I really enjoyed the Divergent series when I read it, but it has been awhile. I don’t see myself ever reading it again, it just doesn’t call out to me in the same way that other series do.

With a friend of my friend

A book/series someone recommended to you that turned out to be different from what you had expected

This would have to be The Bear and The Nightingale. I had heard such great things about this book, and subsequent series, but upon reading it for myself I was left disappointed. It seemed like it had pacing issues and never really got to a point that fully captured me.

Double date

A book whose sequel you immediately had to read

This might be a weird pick since it technically doesn’t have a sequel yet, but I am going with The Rage of Dragons. The sequel is slated for release later this year and after finishing the book I wanted to read it right away. I still think about it consistently and cannot wait to find out the next part of the story.

A book/series that should be adapted to the screen

I am choosing Axiom’s End. I think everything about this book is begging for a live action adaptation. It would be akin to Stranger Things, and I really think it would have a chance to be even better. I would watch it immediately.

Dreamy stargazing

A book that made you go ahhhh and ohhhh

Sorcery of Thorns had me making those exact sounds out loud as I read. Margaret Rogerson does such an amazing job of using descriptive language to paint a vivid image in the head of her readers, it feels like you are right there alongside Nathaniel and Elizabeth.

Fun at the fair

The most colorful book I have read in a long time was I Love You so Mochi. The look it gave of Japan through the eyes of an artist who noticed the color and fabric of everything and how it could be utilized in a new dress design or something of the like made for a story full of color.

Amusement park adventure

A book that was a rollercoaster

The one that comes to mind here is The Silent Patient. It has a lot of ups and downs in the story as you begin to think about who the culprit might be. If you are like me you will be on a wild ride right up until you find out who actually did it.

Picnic with cherries

A book whose food descriptions made you feel all *heart eyes*

This is probably cheating but I am going to choose I Love You so Mochi a second time. The love story in this book really spoke to me. She finds someone who believes in her wholeheartedly and wants nothing more than to see her doing the things she loves. She feels the same toward him and the only problem is that he lives in Japan and she is only visiting.

Trip to the museum

A book that taught you valuable stuff

This one has to be The Alchemist. The book made me rethink what I wanted out of life and what I could be doing in order to achieve it. The book really challenges you to think deeply about your life and what your goal and purpose is.
