Top 5 Games Still Coming out in 2020

This has been a really weird year, for everything in general. The video games industry took a hit just like everything else did, and as a result we saw video games get pushed further and further out of their anticipated release windows. As we draw closer to the back half of 2020 (I can’t believe this year isn’t even halfway finished yet) I wanted to look at some of the games I am most anticipating that should still be releasing this year.

1. Ghost of Tsushima

My hype levels have been pretty lukewarm for this game for much of the time it has been floating around, but Sony recently showed off some gameplay and now I am all in. The game is shaping up to be somewhere between Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but with a layer of feudal Japan over it all. If anyone knows anything about me, there hasn’t ever been a game that sounds more like something crafted especially for me. This is one I have high hopes for and after seeing the gameplay I think it could even exceed those new expectations, which is why it tops this list.

2. Cyberpunk 2077

Coming off their success with the Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red has a lot to live up to. They crafted not only one of the greatest fantasy games we have ever seen, but they did it while making an open world the likes none of us had ever seen before. They shoved content into every corner of the world and made each quest feel compelling no matter how obscure. If they are able to hit on Cyberpunk in the same manner, we might be talking about a game of the decade contender rather than just game of the year.

3. The Last of Us Part II

This was my number 1 on this list for a long time, but after the recent leaks it feels like the wind was taken out of the sails a bit. I haven’t personally checked out any of the leaks, as I would like to go into this one knowing as little as possible about the game, but judging from the reactions online a lot of people are already disappointed. I think it is unfair to judge a game by something that leaks ahead of time since much of what makes a game great is playing it and experiencing it for yourself, but I can’t ignore the feeling that came with the leaks.

4. Halo: Infinite

This is a bit of a weird pick for me personally seeing as I don’t own an Xbox or anything that could even play this game, but this is rumored to release alongside the Xbox Series X later this year. If the new generation of games still comes out the way it was planned we could see Halo as a launch title and it doesn’t get much more special than that. I have never really been a Halo fan but the series is one of the all time greats and deserves the respect it gets. Master Chief stands right alongside Mario and Link in terms of iconic characters, so I would be remiss no to give Halo a nod on this list.

5. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered

This was just recently announced, but of course it made the list. These games were such a big part of my childhood and I like many others cannot wait to revisit them. The soundtrack for these games are still some of the best soundtracks of all time, across any medium, and even thought they won’t be able to bring back every single song, I can’t wait to hear them again. There is just something about how fun these games made skating that has not really been replicated well since. This is going to be an awesome trip down memory lane.

As always, thanks so much for reading. Let me know what games you are most looking forward to this year! Leave me a comment down below or reach out on social media, I am most active on Twitter! 1. I certainly wasn’t expecting those leaks to happen. I myself know what the content is because it got spoiled for me on an otherwise unrelated Reddit thread, so you probably will want to use social media as seldom as possible in the next month or so.

Still, I find it interesting how Ghost of Tsushima ended up becoming *the* game to look out for as a tangential result of this debacle. And, I’m definitely looking forward to Cyberpunk as well.

  2. I kind of want to play Ghost of Tsushima but again, I don’t have a ps4. Haha, same with Last of Us. Do you think when i get one( which I’m hoping to get a ps5 when i get a job) that getting Last of Us is worth the investment? I’ve heard so many good things about last of us I’d love to try it.
