Review

This book is a little different than the sort of books I usually review on this blog. I found Jeff through his YouTube channel where he gives tips about lifting weights, body building, and general fitness advice. He was actually the first way I heard about the idea of body recomposition. I (like a lot of people) had always thought that you could only lose fat or build muscle, but never both at the same time. This idea refutes that and suggests that you can do both at the same time if you do a few things the right way.

I recently started lifting weights again after a long time of only doing cardio and restricting what I ate in order to lose weight. It definitely worked for me and I lost a lot of weight, but I realized that cardio and a low calorie diet wasn’t going to get me all the way to my goal. I’ve started following a body recomposition plan, which for me meant weight lifting with a slight caloric deficit (10-20%) and a high protein diet. So far it’s been working for me.

The book does an amazing job of laying all the facts and tips out in a way that is easily consumable to even the newest of gym-goers. Starting a new gym regimen or new diet can be one of the most daunting tasks possible and for a lot of people it stops their progress before it even begins. Having a book like this to guide you on your way and help you out with the diet and supplementation side of things can be invaluable and can insure you get off to the right start.

Jeff gives us multiple chapters on how to set up a plan that will work for each specific person and how to adjust it over time in order to keep it as effective as possible. I really appreciated the way he gives his opinion on things and then backs it up with scientific findings and reports. He even talks about things that worked for him and others that might not have been widely accepted, in order to show every side of things. I feel like there really is something in this book for everyone.

Weight loss and muscle building is a long journey that is daunting at first, this is a great first step in the right direction and one I think a lot of people can benefit from. Lifting weights and getting your diet right is the best way to change your body for the better and this book is a perfect guide to do so.
