Guest Post Interview with Eva Winters:

About Eva Winters
Q: Where are you from?
A: I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana but currently live in Texas.
Q: Any areas of expertise or degrees?
A: I’m certainly no expert but I do know a lot about banking, logistics and retail. I have a BSc. in Management
Q: Tell me about your past jobs.
A: I’ve worked in banking and retail sales, however, the past seven years, and before my current position, I worked in transportation logistics. I look forward to being able to write fulltime.
Q: How long have you been writing?
A: Since I was a ckid. I’ve been writing poems, songs, and stories, since I was a kid. But it wasn’t until February 2015, that I decided to write fiction stories fulltime for publishing.
Q: What made you want to become a writer?
A: As a kid, we didn’t have a lot. We grew up in poverty stricken areas. My imagination was my greatest asset. It allowed me to push past my reality and explore life beyond my then current situation. Through writing, a shy girl like me could express herself without limits, creating worlds outside of her own. I could write about things I wouldn’t discuss with anyone, whether it was true or not. I became a writer because I love creating stories and characters, building worlds, inspiring others, and the empowerment that comes from having no limits.
Q: What’s your favorite music?
A: I love all music. What I listen too at any given time just depends on the mood I’m in.
Q: Do you have a favorite television show?
A: It just depends. Right now I’m into Good Doctor. I do watch other shows occasionally but unfortunately never when they first air. I usually take a few days out of the month to catch up.
Q: What’s your favorite movie?
A: Man on Fire
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Well of course I love writing. But I also love reading, dancing, traveling, and family time.
Revealing Facts
Q: How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
A: I’ve written eleven or maybe more under different pen names. I’ve published nine of them. Saving Zoe is my favorite.
Q: What kind of feedback do you get from your readers?
A: The feedback I get varies. Mostly, readers seem to like the action and suspense I bring to each of my stories regardless of the genre.
Q: What genres do you write in?
A: Crime thrillers and suspense, romance suspense, and paranormal suspense, occasionally.
Q: What words do you find yourself using too often when writing?
A: I can’t think of specific words I use to often, but I do tend to get carried away with adding -ly to adjectives, converting them to adverbs. Needless to say I have an editing section just for getting rid of those.
Q: Name one thing you wish you could go back in change about your life.
A: I wish I would have developed healthy eating habits earlier in life. Eating healthy is very important and the older I get, the harder it becomes.
Q: Who do you most admire?
A: My mother. She’s very humble and her strength and courage amazes me.
Q: What is your best quality?
A: Being able to look at situations objectively.
Q: Who’s your favorite hero/heroine?
A: Noomi Rapace played by Lisbeth Salander (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)
Q: Who’s your favorite villain?
A: Tony Montana played by Al Pacino (Scarface)
Writing Habits and Thoughts
Q: How many hours a day to you devote to writing?
A: It depends. Some days I write a little and some days I write a lot. Every day, I do something writing related whether it’s brainstorming, editing, plotting, promoting, etc.
Q: How many drafts do you create on average before coming up with your final stories?
A: Too many. At minimum, four.
Q: Who’s your favorite author?
A: I like multiple authors. It would be hard to pick one as a favorite.
Q: What’s your favorite book?
A: Saving Zoe because it’s my first published book (and because I think it’s a great story). ☺
Q: Do you have a favorite series?
A: I really enjoyed the Stranger Series by Jennifer Jaynes.
Q: As an author, what’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
A: The best advice I ever got was from my editor, Meg. I’m going to pass it on. “Just write like you write and don’t try to write like the next person.”
